The project was conceived as a tax credit development, and SIR, Inc.’s design was approved as such on the first submission. The project was fully rented shortly upon completion. This attests to the great demand for senior housing in the Third Ward.
The fifty apartment units are accommodated in a “U” shaped three story wood frame structure on the one acre site. Common areas and rental office are provided in a central location within the structure. The U shaped building surrounds a central open area which includes a gazebo, playgrounds and other amenities. Required parking for senior housing is relatively less than that required for other residential uses and is provided on grade.
