SIR, Inc. prepared plans for the remodeling 500 living units of this dilapidated 1950’s public housing projects for the Housing Authority. The Project for the had a very unappealing institutional character, and was badly in need of rehabilitation and modernization. SIR’s remodeling of the project included regarding of the site to alleviate drainage problem, and landscaping to improve the setting. The units were updated inside and gable roofs were installed over the existing flat roofs to help reduce heat gain from the sun. Porches were also built onto each unit to better define entrances, creating outdoor rooms for the residents that overlook the public areas of the complex.
