Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Rifaat has earned notoriety and respect in both professional and academic worlds in the fields of architecture and urban planning.
As a professor of architecture at the University of Houston, and as principal of SIR Architects & Planners in Houston, Texas, Mr. Rifaat has earned high praise and numerous awards for his talents and expertise.
His work includes the creation of a new town for the Ministry of Planning and Urbanization in Egypt, and he has served as a consultant to the World Bank for community master planning on the Red Sea.
After founding the graduate program of architecture at the University of Houston and heading that program for many years, Mr. Rifaat today lectures at the university on urban development and sustainable communities.
